To learn more about GIMP, use this source: https://docs.gimp.org/2.8/en

FIRST STEP: To get started, you might want to make your Gimp Window act as a unit. Click WINDOW/Single Window Mode.

We will cover the following quick tasks.

- Resize
- Crop
- Add a layer
- Rotate a layer
- Add text

Instead of numbered steps , I will write short descriptions to give you a feeling of exploring a bit.

Resize:

Open a file. Then click IMAGE/Scale Image. In the Scale Image dialog box, make sure the chain is connected so that the aspect ratio is maintained. Type the desired number.

Saving:

To save in the Gimp format which supports layers, click FILE/Save.
To save in other formats, click FILE/Export.

Cropping:

You can trim an image by cutting out the unwanted portion.
Choose the Crop Tool. Drag across the part of the image you want to keep. You can also fine tune your selection by clicking and dragging any of the 4 rectangular corners. Press ENTER when ready.

Type text:

Use the “A” Type Tool to type text. When you start, you will see a small menu on-screen with choices such as size, bold, and color. To choose more tools, open the Tool Options panel, located on the left of the screen.

Rotate image:

You can rotate an entire image by clicking IMAGE/Transform image.

Paste:

Let’s paste an image into an image. Google an image of any size.

Then click LAYER/Scale Layer.  Although there is no preview, use the current image size to guide you in deciding the layer size.

Rotate a layer:

Choose layer from Layer Palette.  Click LAYER/Transform/Arbitrary rotation. As you spin the number, you’ll get a preview of what it looks like.
