Design inspiration, maybe?

I have culled together a list of websites that, given what you've learned, might serve as some design inspiration. This NOT a list of the latest and greatest. Instead, it will serve as reminders of the features that we have covered in which you commonly find in today’s websites.

A Few Tips

For working within your skillset and still looking polished

1.      Stretch at least one element across the width of the screen.

2.      Make the page 100% width but be careful about all content stretching 100%. For instance, we will deconstruct the boxes of CofC with your eyes and note how some parts are 100%.

3.      Include hero picture.

4.      Never use Times New Roman font as the primary font. It makes you look lazy. And what did we say about that default #000000 text? Lazy, that's what.

5.      Avoid long text, especially on home page. s

6. Link logo back to home; also, include a favicon.

Examples

These are some sites you have the ability to do. In some cases, you would not spend the time to do all parts of the page if you're not being paid for it. However, I believe they are in your wheelhouse.

This "searched" Best Buy page is ideal as a good looking webpage that includes some of the things we’ve covered. https://www.bestbuy.com/site/brands/klipsch/pcmcat165900050004.c?id=pcmcat165900050004

Deconstruct the "boxes" of CofC with your eyes. Focus on the big parts. E.g. the top consists of nav, logo & search, another nav. Then hero pic slideshow 100%. Notice how Top Stories looks so fluid. Just picture a constant "wrapper" where elements break out every now and then. i.e. all of the non-100% elements are the same width.

All of the colorlib:

Wix blank templates.

Just like CofC where some elements are 100% and others are the same width. As I said earlier, because of time, and because you're not getting paid, I'd say you have the ability to do a simplified version of this.

This homepage would look better with two columns. But look at a couple other pages such as its Services page. https://allwebcodesign.com/templates/RD35-DM/RD35-Chicago-DM

Want some colors? It's nearly the same page as above.

In fact, go to www.allwebcodesign.com and you'll see a lot of templates that are feasible to do. They remind me of a lot of Wordpress sites. They may look challenging at this stage of your learning, but I feel that they can be emulated. This one has a background
