Assignment Description: For this assignment, you may team up with up to 2 other class members and create a holiday card. In coordination with Chapter 8, you will use objects to program the card. If you don't want to work with a group, you may work alone.
To keep us in a thematic range, you are limited to any holiday that comes in November-December. Examples are Thanksgiving, Veterans Day, Christmas, Hanukkah, Kwanzaa, etc.
Get started:
Even if you work alone, you must sign up in OAKS to join a Holiday Card group.
Further Requirements and Guidelines:
- Choose teammates, or do it alone.
- Let's go with a moderate size of between 600-800. And avoid making it square because cards are usually rectangular. If you feel compelled to go beyond 800px, feel free to do so.
- Make sure that every Processing assignment has the following lines at the top as a comment:
Assignment #, Your Names, and Date - Comment liberally throughout the program.
- Use at least 3 classes.
- At least one thing must be animated in some way. (Of course there are many possibilities such as a snowman, simple turkey, ornaments shaking, teddy bear, sleigh, Santa Claus, candles flickering, and endless possibilities for movement.)
- For the writeup this time, create a Tab called "Notes" , and do a brief writeup to describe anything about your. It is to be written in comments, like this /* . . . */. Be sure to use real English. About 75-150 words will suffice.
What to Submit:
- Dropbox is entitled “Group Holiday Card”. (once again, let me clarify, even if you do it alone, it goes in that box.)
- As stated above, write about your experience in a Processing tab called "Notes".
- Upload a zipped file of the program.
Due Date:
November 13, 2023
Examples
Here are some examples to provide some general idea of what can be done in Processing. Please don't feel limited by these examples. Let your imagination flow!
In my example from a couple of years ago, the snow is falling and the bus is moving. I don't even know what the little blue thing is. Maybe it's an outhouse or a tombstone.
This is by B. Condron and partner. The candles
are turned on in the animation.
About 5 leaves are continuously falling. By S. Woods and partner.
