Brief instructions for repairing photo. I will guide you through steps 1-7 because I want to explain some of the techniques.
- Paste picture
- Display Ruler Guides ; then Free transform to straighten
- Take a Snapshot (from History panel)
- Soft yellow, cloudy background
- Eye dropper to get two colors
- Hide Joe layer
- On background layer: FILTER>Layer>Clouds
- Replace background
- Isolate, using magnetic lasso
- Click Refine Edge to refine the selection
- Inverse/Delete OR Layer Mask
- Correct Colors
- IMAGE>Adjustment>Levels
- Drag Shadow to right; Highlight a bit to left
- Repair
- Some of hair & forehead
- White dot on lip
- Black dot left of nose
- Crop properly
- If time permits, you can add a frame. And here are the detailed instructions since you're doing on your own:
- Add a new layer at top; fill with ANY color (it’s necessary but will disappear anyway)
- Choose Styles panel. Then from the options menu, choose Web Styles.
- Scroll near the bottom and choose one of the Paper Clip styles.
- On the Layer's panel, modify the style by double clicking "Stroke".
- Then from the Styles dialog box, choose a stroke gradient that is less bright.
- Also, make the stroke about 20px thick.
